what is more important for weight loss diet or exercise?
I mean Exercise is obviously a factor but how much of it is diet vs exercise.
Diet is about 85% of it and exercise is the other 15%
You want to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight, which can be done by
A) Eating less
B) Exercising to burn more calories
C) A combination of A and B
Diet is EVERYTHING for weight loss, you can workout all day long but if your diet is bad you won’t lose weight.
Conversley if you eat healthy and in a caloric deficit, but don’t work out you can still lose weight.

For weight loss it is necessary to do both. Neither will be as effective without the other.

both.
although i think your diet is slightly more important.

Obviously, for optimal weight loss you need both but most professionals will tell you that diet plays the most important role.

I would say diet but you really need both to lose weight in a reasonable amount of time. It also adds to your health.
Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

They are both equally important. Exercise is essential to keep your bones and joints healthy, as well as metabolism, energy and overall health. Just the same, your diet will control your immune system, your metabolism, your weight, your energy, even your ability to sleep (as does exercise). One goes with the other.
